Volume = π × radius² × height. A cylinder with radius 3 and height 10 has volume = π × 9 × 10 ≈ 282.74 cubic units.
Volume = (4/3) × π × radius³. A sphere with radius 4 has volume = (4/3) × π × 64 ≈ 268.08 cubic units.
Volume measures the total three-dimensional space a shape occupies; capacity typically refers to how much a container can hold (often in liquid measures like liters or gallons) — for most everyday purposes the two are used interchangeably.
Multiply cubic feet by 7.48 to get US gallons. For example, 10 cubic feet × 7.48 ≈ 74.8 gallons.
Volume = (1/3) × π × radius² × height — exactly one-third the volume of a cylinder with the same base and height.
